March Mad Choir Updates

Good afternoon choral students and families…

Here are the updates about the upcoming performances in this very busy month of March.

Wednesday, March 10 ^th - required Afterschool rehearsal from 2:30-4:00 (as was listed on the calendar since September)

Thursday, March 11 ^th - 6:45pm call, 7:30pm Concert- required full concert dress (as was listed on the calendar since September)

Friday, March 19 ^th - District Festival at South Lakes HS (as was listed on the calendar since September)

Transportation will be provided throughout the school day to get students to SLHS for performances. Students who wish to travel back to school or home using transportation other than the bus will need to make advance arrangements with Mrs. Rowan. Parents and families are welcome to come to SLHS for these performances and then drive their singers home from Reston.

Thursday, March 25 ^th 6:00pm call time, 7:30 concert- Elementary Pyramid Singers with Thoreau Advanced Choir, Women’s Select Choir and Madrigals (Members of Men’s and Women’s Concert Choir are invited to sing but are not required) Concert attire is Choir t-shirt and blue jeans

A few quick updates from the Madison Choral Department…

COOKIE DOUGH DELIVERY:
At this point the cookie dough delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, Tues 2/16. As long as the county is able to open schools (sidewalks and bus stops being the issue…), we will receive our cookie dough order during the school day. All orders must be picked up by 3:45! Please make the necessary arrangements to pick up your order by 3:45 at the latest.

ORLANDO UPDATES:

The final payment that was due Feb 9^th is now instead due on February 22^nd. Please make all checks payable to JMHS and mark Choir/Orlando in the memo. Students must sign up for a room by the end this week or a room assignment will be made for them.

DISTRICT CHORUS INFO:
All students will receive a full refund of their lunch money and will receive back a significant portion of their $25.00 payment for the event. Students who are traveling to Orlando will have this money credited towards their trip and will receive a payment update upon return to school. Students who are not going on the Florida trip will have a check sent to refund this money. Once we get the refund amount back from the host school, I will update the accounts and give students their trip credits/refund check amounts. Please contact me with questions.

CONCERTS:
Please mark your calendar for the upcoming Spring Concert on March 11^that 7:30pm in which all choirs will perform. On March 19^th or 20^th, all choirs will perform in our District Festival at South Lakes HS. We will be assigned a date and time for each choir in the next two weeks and will then make transportation arrangements. This is our most important performance of the spring as it serves as our state assessment. All students are required to perform in the District Festival. Please note that this date was in the calendar and contract that you signed at the start of the school year. Feel free to contact me with any questions. More info will follow as soon as I have updates from the Festival host. We will follow with a smaller pyramid concert on March 25^th in which the Madrigals and Select Women’s Choir will perform.
